Hey everyone! I recently had the incredible opportunity to be in my sister’s music video for "Drive," an inspired by project by SZA's song and music video, Drive. I love how the music video conveys the therapeutic power of music. You can watch it here!
I watched the original music video to prepare for this role and listened to the song more times than I could count. I connected with Ben Stiller's character in the original and wanted to do my take. My character is dealing with a breakdown and is processing his emotions through the music. Ultimately, he goes on a healing journey as he gets out of the car, begins dancing, and lets go.
All the dance moves in the video were improvised. Being quite tall, I had to constantly be aware of how I fit into each shot. This meant keeping my movements compact yet impactful, ensuring they conveyed emotion without me accidentally moving out of frame.
My wish is for this song and video is to resonate with others like it did with me. I hope it becomes a go-to track for anyone needing an emotional lift during their drives, offering comfort and release when it's needed most.
