Hey everyone! I'm currently reading 1984, a famously banned book. This got me thinking about other children's and young adult books that have also been banned. Ever wonder why some books get banned? Usually, it’s because they tackle ideas that make people uncomfortable. But the thing is, banning books doesn’t erase those ideas—it just makes them more important to read.
Here are a few well-known books that have been banned at some point:

"Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling: Some schools banned these because of witchcraft concerns. Apparently, spells and magic were too much for some people.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee: This one has been banned over the years because of its honest discussion of racism. But that’s exactly why it should be read.

"1984" by George Orwell: The book I’m reading right now! It’s been banned in different places for its intense critique of government control. (Which is... kind of ironic.)

"Charlotte's Web" by E.B. White: This one honestly surprised me. Some people objected to the idea of talking animals and gasp discussions about death.
But here’s the thing: banned books are usually the ones that make us think. They challenge us, make us see the world differently, and help us grow.
So, what’s a banned book that stuck with you? Or maybe one that surprised you? Drop it in the comments, I’d love to hear your thoughts! And remember: keep reading, keep questioning, and keep on shivering.
I have always loved reading the catcher in the rye which is a banned book.
