For a lot of years, I have decided on my Halloween costume months in advance, so I am already starting to think about possible Halloween costumes for next year. One of my favorite costumes I picked out was in 5th grade when I decided to go as Alf.
I enjoyed watching many older shows growing up, and Alf was one of them. Alf is a show about an alien that crash lands on Earth and stays with the human family, The Tanners, who help to keep his identity hidden. While aliens are usually thought of as spooky, the only thing spooky about Alf is the way he looks. After watching the first episode of this 80s comedy, I was hooked!
The actor who played Alf, Mihaly “Michu” Meszaros, was 2’9” and an incredible actor. All of the characters definitely have cliche 80s sitcom personalities. The only part of the show that I didn’t care for is definitely the ending, where Spoiler Alert if you don't want to know this, skip over Alf gets taken by the government. This was followed by a really bad movie called Project: Alf, which finishes up the story. My suggestion? Just don’t watch the movie; the show is awesome.
After falling in love with the alien Alf, I knew I would love to have this be my Halloween costume. I begged my mom to get it for me. Even though no kids knew what Alf was, every adult was freaking out and telling me not to eat their cats (Alf always wants to eat Tanners' pet cat).
Alf is definitely one of my favorite shows of all time, and I highly recommend you watch this creepy but lovable little alien TV show.
But now I’ve got a question for you. What do you think about my costume? Tell me, have you ever dressed up as a character from a TV show or a movie for Halloween? Let me know, and always remember to keep on shivering.
I loved reading about your Alf costume and how much the show means to you! I've also dressed up as characters from TV shows for Halloween and totally get the excitement. I was a character from Squid Games, La Casa De Papel and last year I was Lara Croft! I had so much fun. Your story reminds me of the fun of sharing something you love with others, even if they don't always get it right away.
I was Count Dracula twice as a kid (thanks, Mom!), and Spider Man once!
