Writing in the Car

I’ve written three novels so far, and in my opinion, the hardest part is just finding the time to write. I feel like that’s a pretty common issue, maybe not with writing specifically but anything like trying to exercise, cook, or work on a passion project. I believe the best way to find time to do something is to do it whenever you can squeeze in a chance to do it.

I’m a dancer, and I dance almost every day of the week. Even though I’m homeschooled, I have a lot of schoolwork, and it can be hard for me to find time to write. To find time to write, I would write whenever I was in the car traveling to and from dance. I completely wrote my book You Have Monsieur Monster for 3rd in the car!

I understand that the perfect moment to workout or to get homework done doesn’t always just appear. I’m grateful that I even had the time in the car that allowed me to write since most people don’t have that. I have realized I can find time for anything if I utilize my time properly. It did mean I had to play fewer video games to accomplish these books, I really wanted to just go on my phone and play Candy Crush during the car ride, but I made myself write.

I hope that this article gives you some ideas of ways to find time to do what you want to do. I also appreciate you taking the time to read this article because while it may take a few minutes out of your day, it helps me and my blog grow.

Now I have a question for you. What passion or goal of yours do you want to find more time for? Let me know, and always remember to keep on shivering.

That's what I call good time management! It's always hard to make time for certain tasks (especially the less pleasant ones, let's face it)

Hi Alicia, I agree that it's very difficult to make time for certain tasks, especially (like you said) tasks that are less pleasant.

Thanks for reading!

I have enjoyed reading your posts and love your commitment to growing in areas you are passionate about. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there! I’ve been doing more writing myself (mostly poetry) and I’m slowly learning how to share more openly. Something else I am making more time for is learning a new language. I have always wanted to be multilingual! Like you, I have found a way to learn while doing other things. The app I use allows me to cook, clean, walk the dogs, etc while I’m listening and practicing Hebrew. It’s very hard at times but I am enjoying the challenge and learning to laugh more at my mistakes.

Keep up the…

Hi Kaci, thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it a lot. That's really cool that you're getting into poetry and pushing yourself to share more openly. I've always wanted to be multilingual as well and am learning French, and it's awesome that you're able to practice Hebrew while doing things like cooking or walking the dogs, but it seems that you're doing a great job and I hope that you keep it up. Also, what's that app that you are using to learn Hebrew?
